READY  TOGETHER

As hurricane season approaches, it's time for families to get ready together. Access these valuable checklists and planning guides to help your family. REMEMBER, in times of natural disaster, it just as important to plan for the mental effects a storm has on your family - especially your kids. These guides were created to help youth feel prepared, and in control, when a natural disaster is looming

1

FAMILY
CHECKLIST

A calm conversation guide for students and trusted adults.

Set a 20-minute family meeting. Your goal is not to predict every problem. Your goal is to know who to contact, where to go, what to pack, and how each person can help safely.

2

HURRICANE
CHECKLIST

What to do before, during, and after a storm.

Know the difference

Hurricane Watch = conditions are possible. Hurricane Warning = conditions are expected. Complete preparations and follow local officials, especially if told to evacuate.

3

PREPAREDNESS
CHECKLIST

Build supplies little by little: home kit, go bag, car kit, and student comfort kit.

Start with a 3-day go bag for evacuation. Build toward at least 7 days at home when possible. Some households may need more, especially for medications, medical equipment, babies, pets, or transportation limits.
